For this week prepare two brief policies and procedures manuals, one for staff and one for enrollment practices, that could be used in your child care center. Answer: It is the duty of any child care center to take good care of the children so that each staff is well prepared as to how he can extend his devoted care and attention towards the individual need of a child. Keeping into consideration the needs of a child, the policies that the organization aims to follow, are as follows: Policy Manual 1: A child may get ill and as such he shall not be returned to his home. The organization will hire two Child Care nurse Consultant, who will be responsible for treating and curing the child, by providing him with necessary medicines. The consultant will also be responsible for training the staff members of the center, how to apply First Aid in case of emergencies. It is intended that each staff working under this organization is well-trained in applying medicines or curing slight injuries (David Weinstein, 2014). There will be a First Aid staff who will be responsible for ensuring that the First Aid kit is fully stocked. The important contents of the First Aid Kit are as follows: Disposable gloves A pair of scissors Bandage tape and gauze pads Tweezers and scissors Safety pins List of emergency phone numbers and the necessary contact numbers of the parents of each of the children The staffs need to be well-trained, and hence sufficient training will be provided to each of the staffs on a variety of topics, such as Child abuse and neglect, Caregiver health, Communicable health and Injury prevention. Policy Manual 2: If a child is suffering from a viral disease, other children may also get affected by it (Beker, 2014). Hence, it is mandatory to ensure that each child enrolled in the child care program, has received immunization. The parents are to submit written documentation supporting the current immunization status of the child. Each child should be provided with immunization at the right time, and hence the child care center regularly reviews the immunization needs of each child. The parents are also being reminded once the immunization time of their respective child is approaching. However, on failing to provide the child with immunization within 15 days, the parents will be asked to withdraw the name of their respective child. If a child is suffering from any serious illness, or any sort of communicable disease, he will not be allowed to enter the center. In case the child is suffering from diseases such as high fever, Diarrhea, undiagnosed rash or infectious sires will be asked to stay back at home. Further, in case of lice and nit or scabies, a child will be advised not to come to the center, unless proper medical treatment is done (Nzi et al., 2016). Roles and Responsibilities of the staff Members: The staff members are expected to be sufficiently trained, so that they have proper knowledge about the injury prevention measures as well as the First Aid services. The staffs are expected to be patient and composed with each child, and are needed to not only take care of them, but also to help them develop learning skills. They must be efficient enough and must know how to handle children. The staff members will be responsible for helping the children learn the alphabets and numbers, with the help of fun and interesting games and activities. The staff members must use their patience and skills to help the children build blocks, arrange numbers and alphabets, solve easy puzzles, and actively participate in multiple activities (Senge, 2014).
